Avery Brewing – Brewery Of The Week

First of all, I hope this article finds all of you well. We have some very exciting news to share with you all! We have been looking for a sponsor for the blog, and stumbled upon a new, local craft beer bar by the name of World Of Beer, located in Coconut Creek.

World Of Beer features over 500 beers from around the world, including over 40 beers on draft! They have graciously agreed to let us record our reviews there, as well as drink their amazing beer. In exchange, we will be helping them promote their new location.

Today also marks the arrival of a new series on Beer Review Dude. Every week, we will be featuring a Brewery Of The Week. We will post an article detailing the history and brews of the brewery on Sunday, and will then post reviews of a selection of their beers over the course of the following week.

This week, we are featuring Avery Brewing, a craft brewery based in Boulder, Colorado. Started in 1993 by Adam Avery, Avery Brewing produces extraordinary craft beers including the Mephistopheles, a 15.1% ABV Imperial Stout that we will be reviewing this week.

Avery Brewing started with a 7 barrel brewhouse, but quickly expanded their system as their beer became more popular. One of the catalysts for their early popularity was a gold medal at the 1994 Great American Beer Festival for their Out Of Bounds Stout.

Avery continued to expand throughout the late 1990s, reaching 4,000 barrel per year capacity by 2002. Their Salvation Belgian Golden Ale was introduced in late 2002, and was well received by the craft beer community. They continued expansion, releasing unique, complex beers along the way, including The Czar Russian Imperial Stout and The Maharaja Imperial IPA, which is currently one of their best selling beers.

Today, Avery’s brewery features two 240 barrel outdoor fermentation vessels and an Italian designed bottling line capable of filling 110 bottles per minute. They continue to produce delicious, unique craft beers, and we are excited to feature them as our Brewery Of The Week.
