Three Skulls Buccaneer Bacon

Today, I review a beer sent to me by my buddy Ed Ryan, the Three Skulls Ales Buccaneer Bacon Lager. This 5.0% ABV Smoked Lager was one of the few smoke beers I’ve ever tried, and I honestly found it a bit lacking. Below is some information about the beer from Three Skulls Ales:

Buccaneer Bacon is a smoked lager that is imbued with the great taste of bacon. The flavors come from beechwood smoked malt and bacon added at just the right time. A pleasant sweetness from the malt counter-balances the campfire smokiness. Aroma emits a blast of smoke with a subtle hop finish.

In my opinion, the smoky bacon flavor just didn’t pair well with the light pilsner base. With that said, the beer was still tasty and worth trying if you are new to smoke beers. Enjoy the review!
