Sweetwater Crank Tank Rye’d Ale Review

This week, Ryan and I review the Sweetwater Crank Tank Rye’d Ale. This 6.2% ABV rye beer from Sweetwater Brewing Company in Atlanta, GA was brewed to benefit Camp Twin Lakes, “a nonprofit organization that offers year-round recreational, therapeutic, and educational programs for children and young adults facing serious illnesses, disabilities, and other life challenges.” Below are the details on the beer, taken from Sweetwater’s website.

We cranked up a fermentation tank for this knobby Rye’d Ale geared up with 25% rye malt and dry hopped to the spokes with Mt. Hood and Centennial Hops.

Malts: Approx. 25% rye malt used, 2 row, malted rye, caramalized rye, flaked rye, munich
Hops: Columbus, Mt. Hood, Centennial
Dry Hops: Mt. Hood, Centennial
Yeast: Ale
Beginning Gravity: 14.5 Plato
Final Gravity: 3.0 Plato

  1. Ha! I’ve seen that happen to a bottle of sparkling wine, but never to a beer bottle! Awesome. On a separate note, tried to send you guys a message on Twitter, but you aren’t following me so I couldn’t. Check me out over there (20beers20nights) and at my site http://20beersin20nights.blogspot.com

Keep up the good work and watch those corks!
