Shiner Smokehaus Beer Review

This week, me and the boys review the Shiner Smokehaus. This was a very interesting beer. I’ve never had anything like it, and don’t know that I want to have anything else like it. The beer wasn’t bad, it just wasn’t my cup of tea. It literally tasted like grilled beer. Very odd, but certainly something fun to experience. Anyways, thanks for watching, and I have you enjoyed The Weekly Cigar.

I live about 2-3 hours from Shiner, TX. I have visited the brewery about 3 years ago. I purchased a sixer of the Smokehaus around May, 2009. The beer has a very smokey aroma and taste. I was enjoying it until I got about 2/3 of the down the bottle and the overwhelming flavor started to get a bit annoying. I will not be returning to smoked beer again. Roasted malts are good, aging beer in oak is good, smoking the brew in mesquite wood was too much for me.

If you purchased the variety pack, I’m sure it was the Shiner Family Reunion. Most, if not all of those beers are not very good. The traditional Shiner Bock is pretty good and the Bohemian Black Lager is great.

Over the past 2 years, I’ve been searching for good brews to try. I’m also a bit of a tequila aficionado so if you are interested in any agave recommendations, I can steer you in the right direction as well. Nothing to me can get better than a good brew or quality anejo tequila paired with the appropriate cigar. Have you considered compiling a beer and cigar review into one?
