New Belgium La Folie Lips of Faith Craft Beer Review
Today, Patrick, John Brooke (my dad) and I review the New Belgium La Folie, a sour Flanders Red Ale from New Belgium‘s Lips of Faith series. If you like sour beers, you need to try this beer. It was insanely sour, but I loved every second of it. The only fault of this beer is its $13.99 price tag, but considering the age on this beer, that’s a small price to pay. Enjoy the review!

I’m really curious about sours, but it kinda sounds like this isn’t exactly a good place to start. Maybe I’ll try that Russian river you mentioned earlier in the video.
I would recommend the Duchesse de Bourgogne as a great starter sour beer. I had it this weekend and it was phenomenal.
I’m not a huge fan of sours in general. I’m curious though: Do the souring bacteria eat up sugars your yeast could have eaten? i.e. Does a sour style make for a weaker beer, given the same original gravity?
Actually, as far as I understand, Brettanomyces and other bugs can lower the Final Gravity further than normal beer yeast, Sacchromyces, can go. In the end, you get a dryer, higher alcohol beer.
