Duchesse de Bourgogne Belgian Beer Review

This week, Ryan and I review the Duchesse de Bourgogne Flanders Red Ale. The Duchesse is a sour beer from Brouwerij Verhaeghe, a brewery located in the West Flanders region of Belgium. According to Verhaeghe‘s website, the Duchesse “is fermented in oak barrels for 18 months and blended with 8 months old ale before being bottled.” We hope you enjoy the review, it’s got a little bit of surprise around the 1 minute mark!

  1. Just linked back to your site too gents. Cheers!

  2. I found myself at Total Wine and more exploring their beer selection (sadly no Russian River products) and I figured it was a good day to step outside of my beer comfort zone and pick up a couple lambics. I remembered you had featured a couple so I came back here for some inspiration. Sure enough they had this exact variety in a 4 pack of 12 oz bottles. Your review was spot on, it’s a really interesting beer. Not something I would drink every day (even if it didn’t cost nearly $19 for the 4 pack), but it was a nice change from my norm.

    • I totally agree. It’s a delicious, unique beer, but it’s certainly price prohibitive. Thanks for referring to my site for the recommendation! Also, this beer is technically a Flanders Red Ale, not a lambic.
